Hello, my name is Melanie and I am the artist behind pet portraits by M J ArtWorks.

I studied over twenty years ago at the Cleveland College of Art and Design. Over the years I have seen my interest in art go from a hobby to a passion and more recently to my buisness.

In the early days I used to draw pencil portraits of pets belonging to friends and relatives as gifts. As more and more people commented on my natural gift for capturing the charm and individuality of their pets I decided to make my drawing more than just a hobby.

In the year 2007 I setup as M J ArtWorks and now my hobby is my work. I am based in Billingham in the North East of England.
